The exceptional Claudia Masciave invited Jan for an exchange on their respective projects and to talk about Fantabulous Universe. Claudia is a visual artist with a razor-sharp insight into human existence. She translates this into visually perfect and highly aesthetic images and majorly entertaining videos! After successfully crowdfunding this unique book of monologue and illustration, Fantabulous Universe officially launched into the world on October 4, 2018.

During this event we were graced with the presence of artists, literature-lovers, and dreamers, who helped us give a warm welcome to this book. Vera Van Renterghem, a Flemish children’s and young adult fiction writer, gave a marvelous introduction to the event. And Korean-Italian pianist Gloria Kim flew all the way from Rome to treat us to works by Gershwin and Shostakovich, which lent an undeniable grace to the event.

The substance of the event was a half hour theatrical reading by the author, Jan Van Ryckeghem. Alongside the piano accompaniment, Jan performed the Prologue, numerous beasts, and the Epilogue from his book.

It was a pleasure to have a such a special group of people in one room together. Here’s to more events like this one!
